Snack Area (1-2 volunteers)
These individuals sit at the counter and greet youth as they enter. They sign-in the youth and call on the director to orient newcomers to the facility and rules. These individuals also prepare and serve food and drinks. They need to be able to make change and prepare food. They also must follow sanitary guidelines for food service. Keep in mind that a lot of ministry happens over the snack counter. Learn to ask good questions!
Multi-purpose Room (2-3 volunteers)
These individuals oversee the game room. They engage youth in games such as pool, ping-pong, air hockey and foosball. They need to be able to maintain a safe, respectful atmosphere in game room. As volunteers show care and love in their interactions, conversations can begin. Volunteers are encouraged to share their faith with youth. We do not force religion on anyone, but at the same time, we are not shy about who we are as Christ followers.
Upstairs (1-2 volunteers)
These individuals are to monitor what is being viewed on the computers and other activity in the room. Volunteers can encourage the playing of board games, art and drawing, discussions about life and faith, and hanging out in general. Passwords and other computer help is available with the director.
The Pit (skate park) (2-3 volunteers)
These individuals oversee the skate park. While fun is one of our goals, safety is of the utmost importance.
Rover (1 volunteer)
This person keeps an eye to the outside of the building, checking for youth who are neither coming or going, but just hanging out on Cornerstone property or the property of our neighbors. Even use of a car is encouraged from time-to-time, in order to check W. High, Brown, the two train stations. When not making rounds outside, the rover walks through the various sections of the youth center, greeting and interacting with youth
